In November 2015 the inhabitants of Hamburg were called to vote on a referendum in order to decide whether the city would present a proposal to host the 2024 Olympic Games or not.
After a rather intense campaign where the former mayor Olaf Scholz was personally engaged for the "Yes", around 52% of the people have voted for "No" and the candidature was dropped.
On the level of the alternative campaign with stickers a bit all over the city which somehow represented a bit more a sort of direct democracy rather than the outdoors or organized events, the "No" was definetely more present and played a more creative work rather than the official campaigns.
