Critical Mass
One of my favourite things in Hamburg is the possibility that you have to go by bike almost everywhere.
The city is pretty well equipped with bike lanes and people tend to respect it. Of course it is not yet perfect or even reached the level that you can experience in cities like Amsterdam or Copenhaguen but it is quite good.
Every last friday of the month there's a group of citizens who decide to take over the roads and ride their bikes in order to promote it's use and make people aware that bikes are also an important part of the city traffic.
Having started in Stockholm in the early 70's, the Critical Mass movement has now spread a bit all over the world and Hamburg is not an exception.
Besides the two pictures that I share, I also recommend a quick look at this video (it is a NDR mini report on it, only available in german, but still worth a look)
